These rains were due to the existence of the deep depression over northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal off South Odisha Coast. This system is likely to continue moving in north-northwest direction along the Odisha coast.

Henceforth, as the system nears the coast many coastal districts such as Paradip, Cuttack, Puri, Balasore, Jajpur, Ganjam, Konark and Bhubaneswar would also witness moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers. Remaining districts of the state of Odisha will witness light intensity showers during the same period.

These showers will be  accompanied with squally winds of 40-50 kmph gusting up to 60 kmph during the next 18 to 24 hours. These strong winds may wreak destruction to the mentioned regions in terms of property and structural damages.

Thereafter, the rain intensity will lessen as the system in Bay is anticipated to weaken and move away towards West Bengal and Northeast India. For now, the days will be pleasant and humid with maximums settling around 20°C.
