Updated on Aug 8, 9:55 AM: Deep Depression weakens into a Depression while moving westwards, to induce heavy rains over Madhya Pradesh
The Deep Depression, which was earlier lying over Jharkhand and adjoining areas, has now weakened into a Depression and now lies over Chhattisgarh, about 90 kms South-Southeast of Ambikapur. The system will continue moving West-Northwestwards across Madhya Pradesh and is heading towards Rajasthan and Gujarat.
The system has already given fairly widespread intense rains in the Central parts of the country including the regions of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, parts of Vidarbha and in many parts of Maharashtra.
Now, as the system keeps traversing forward, it will induce more weather over Madhya Pradesh, extending up to Gujarat and Rajasthan. The surge is also likely to enhance rains over the West coast of the country.
The extensive rains might even cause the localized flood-like situation, particularly in Madhya Pradesh region.
Updated on Aug 7, 8:30 PM: Deep depression in Bay of Bengal to give heavy rains in Odisha, South Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Southeast Madhya Pradesh today
The Depression which formed in the Bay of Bengal, became a Deep Depression over Northwest Bay off the North Odisha¬West Bengal coast. It did move northwestwards at 4 kmph and was near Latitude 21.1 degrees North and Longitude 87.4°East, around 65 km SE of Balasore (Odisha) and about 60 km SSW of Digha (West Bengal).
The system then initially moved northwestwards, further crossing North Odisha¬West Bengal coasts close to north of Balasore. The system will furthermore move in a west-northwestward direction.
With this, today, Interior Odisha, South Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Southeast Madhya Pradesh will see heavy rains while very heavy showers will be seen in some pockets.

With the depression gaining strength and likely to become a deep depression soon, many parts of South Chattisgarh, South Madhya Pradesh, South Odisha and Vidarbha will see extremely heavy rains.
In fact, a red alert like situation will persist in these areas. Localized flooding is expected which will throw life out of gear.

The first depression of Monsoon 2019 has finally formed and is currently over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north coast of Odisha. The system is a slow moving one, it will take three to four days, to move across the breadth of the country. With this, starting today, heavy rains will be seen over coastal parts of southern Odisha and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh which will continue tomorrow as well. The state of Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal may also see widespread rains.

The depression over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining north coast of Odisha will intensify into a deep depression soon. Due to its influence, heavy to very heavy rains are expected over some part of southern districts of Odisha, south Chhattisgarh leading to the flood-like situation, starting from today.
This weather system will move inland into the west direction. The intensity of rain will start decreasing in Odisha but many parts of Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Southern districts of Madhya Pradesh will get flooding rains on August 7 and 8.
Thereafter, its impact will be seen over the western part of Madhya Pradesh, south-east Rajasthan and Gujarat. Between August 8 to August 10, heavy to very heavy rains to lash many parts of Gujarat. Kutch region will be the most affected, particularly Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Patan and Himatnagar.
Updated on Aug 6, 12:20 PM: Well-Marked Low-Pressure in Bay of Bengal intensifies to Depression
The Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area has intensified into a Depression. At present, it is centered at 20.5 degrees North and 88 degrees East. It is about 160 km Southeast of Balasore and the center is in the sea, Bay of Bengal. Its impact is more prominent over the Odisha region. This is the first Depression of this Monsoon season which is very likely to further intensify into a Deep Depression in the next 24 hours. The winds are strong in nature and are gusting to the tune of 60 kmph over the coastal stations.
On further intensification, the sea conditions will deteriorate more and fishermen are strictly advised not to venture out into the sea for at least next 48 hours.
This Depression is moving in the west-northwestward direction and will continue to do so for the next 24 hours. As per the experts, it is a slow-moving system and might even stagnate for some time.

The Low Pressure Area over North Bay of Bengal has become more marked and is now seen as a well-marked low-pressure area over North Bay of Bengal and adjoins West Bengal and Bangladesh.
The system is now partially over land and sea. According to weathermen, the system would continue to gain more strength and is likely to induce depression in another 24 hours.
The likely depression would continue to move inland across East India. With this, heavy rain focus from would now shift from West India to East India. In fact, rains have also eased out in Northeast India as moist winds are now concentrating around the well-marked low-pressure area.
The system would also pull down the Monsoon trough to south of its normal position as well as activities for the next 3-4 days.
Initially, we can expect heavy to very heavy rains to lash many parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, North Chhattisgarh and even over parts of East Madhya Pradesh. After quite long, Kolkata would also get to see prolonged spell to heavy rains.
The rain belt would keep shifting according to the movement of the system. It is likely to travel up to Gujarat and thus, places of Gujarat and even Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh would see good rains from August 8 onwards.
However, West Coast would now go light, particularly over Mumbai.
