A fresh depression has developed in North Bay of Bengal, keeping Monsoon vigorous over eastern parts of the country.

As predicted by Skymet Weather, the well-marked low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression on Tuesday evening. It is presently seen over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coast of West Bengal and Odisha.

The depression is centered at latitude 21.5°N and longitude 87.0°E, around 35 km to Balasore and 80 km northeast of Chandbali.

The system has been moving in westnorthwestwards and would continue to do so for the next few hours. It would cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts, near Balasore by Wednesday morning.

Under the influence of this depression, we can expect widespread Monsoon rainfall of heavy to very heavy intensity with isolated extremely heavy rain over Odisha and south Chhattisgarh during the next 24 hours.

North Coastal Andhra Pradesh is likely to receive fairly widespread moderate to heavy rainfall with few very heavy spells. Parts of Telangana could also see isolated heavy rains during next 48 hours.

As the system moves inland, it would also impact weather over Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Both the regions are likely to record fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rain during the next two to three days.

Not only this, the impact of this system would also be seen along the West Coast. As the system moves towards central parts of the country, it is likely to strengthen westerly winds all along the West Coast. As a result, rains are likely to revive rains and some good showers are likely with few heavy to very heavy rains for the next three days.
