The reason for the occurrence of fog is the flow of light winds along with low temperatures across the region. Generally, the thick layer of fog continues over the plains of India from November to January and sometimes up to February.

As per Skymet Weather, the intensity of fog will remain moderate to dense for the next two to three days. However, there are chances of rise in the maximum temperatures during the afternoon. With this, the intensity of fog will also lessen when the sun comes up.

Weathermen are of the view that an active Western Disturbance is likely to approach the Western Himalayas around November 14. This system is anticipated to induce a cyclonic circulation over Haryana and adjoining parts of Punjab. This would give scattered rains over the plains of North India.

Consequently, the fog will decrease over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan between November 14 to 16. However, as Western Disturbance will move away and with high levels of humidity, fog will again engulf the mentioned areas that too in much more intensity.
