The upper air cyclonic circulation over northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining areas of Gujarat has also become less marked.
Today morning fog was inconspicuous in most parts of North India. Only Amritsar reported nil visibility and Delhi 400 meters. People in Agra, Allahabad, Varanasi and Lucknow woke up to a foggy morning. Gaya and Rachi reported shallow fog only. But dense fog is likely to make a comeback very soon. People in North, East and Central India could wake up to a very cold and foggy Sunday morning.
Northwesterly winds are bringing back cold day conditions. Maximums are 5 to 9 degrees below normal in Delhi, Lucknow, Bhopal, Gwalior and Indore. On Friday, maximum in Agra and Meerut were 7 degrees below normal at 15.5°C and 14.8°C, respectively. Cold day conditions prevailed in Delhi on Friday and Saturday. In Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal saw a drop of 9 degrees in maximum temperature and settled at 15.1°C. Day temperature in Indore also dropped 9 degrees below normal.
Within next 24 hours, cold day conditions will engulf most parts of north India, entire Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and parts of Bihar. A significant drop in minimum temperature is also likely in next 48 to 72 hours.
