After the passage of the Western Disturbance from Jammu and Kashmir, northwesterly cool and dry winds have started to gradually strengthen over the Northwest Plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan.
Similar, dry winds are likely to prevail over the region during the next two to three days. Cool winds will pick pace towards the afternoon hours. Though the sky will remain clear, but temperatures may not rise due to the winds. As a result, the day temperatures will show a slight fall in the next 24 hours.
During the morning hours today, dense fog was observed over Punjab, North Haryana and Northwest Uttar Pradesh. At present, the sky is clear over most places.
Although the fog intensity will become marginally less, similar dense fog is likely to prevail tomorrow as well. The weather will become cooler as the day progresses. Some places in the extreme North of Punjab such as Ludhiana, Nawanshahr, Panchkula, Ambala, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad and Roorkee may see dense fog but for a short period. Patchy dense fog may also be observed over Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh in the North Rajasthan region.
During the last 24 hours, Delhi pollution remained in ‘satisfactory’ to ‘moderate’ category over most parts. As the winds are expected to strengthen, the pollution level might improve marginally over the area. Despite this, we expect pollution to continue to remain in ‘moderate’ category.
