Delhiites for the second consecutive day woke up to a foggy morning on Friday. The visibility at the Palam airport dropped to nil causing flight delays and cancellations. Areas including Vikaspuri and Noida Expressway witnessed very dense fog. Shallow fog was observed in areas including Dwarka, Indirapuram, Model Town and Lajpat Nagar. Also, no fog was observed in Faridabad.
Areas in Punjab and Haryana, specially along the foothills observed clear weather conditions. Gorakhpur and Agra observed very dense fog with visibility dropping to nil. Lucknow, Jaipur, Patna and Varanasi were also enveloped in thick cover of fog with visibility settling at 250 meters, 300 meters, 200 meters, and 300 meters, respectively. The fog extended further to cover parts of Madhya Pradesh. Indore observed very dense fog with visibility recording 50 meters. Bhopal with visibility of 200 meters, also observed dense fog.
Dense fog in most parts of the country caused major delays in train and flight schedule. In departures, 6 flights were delayed and 4 were cancelled. Rail traffic was also adversely affected causing delay of 127 trains. Some of these delays include Brahmaputra Mail (Old Delhi - Dibrugarh) delayed by 15 hrs, Rajdhani Express (Bangalore - Hazrat Nizamuddin) by 20 hrs, Garib Rath (Anand Vihar - Bhagalpur) by 21 hrs, and Farakka Express (Old Delhi - Malda Town) by 9 hrs.
