Many parts of East India had been witnessing rain and thundershower activities, particularly, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal as well as Odisha. During the last 24 hours, scattered light rains with a couple of moderate spells were observed over Gangetic West Bengal, parts of Jharkhand, North Odisha, and isolated pockets of Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh.

Intensity of rains were more over Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata and North Odisha. Now, the confluence zone which was giving rains over these areas has moved away. The Trough which was also extending from Gangetic West Bengal has faded away.

Thus, now we expect the weather conditions to become dry once again. In fact, there are chances of moderate to dense fog to make an appearance over many parts of West Bengal, Bihar, and Odisha. The minimum temperatures will start to drop by around 2-3 degrees Celsius and maximums will witness a rise by a couple of degrees in teh coming 24 to 48 hours, due to clearance of weather.

Another spell of rain and thundershowers is expected to approach the eastern parts of the country by January 8 and 9 as the induced Cyclonic Circulation which will form over the Northern Plains, and a Trough will extend from this system up to Gangetic West Bengal leading to rains.

Moreover, humid winds from Bay of Bengal will also feed moisture. During that time, heavy rains will not be seen and only light to moderate rains are likely. By January 10, weather will once again become dry.
