North India particularly the national capital and its surrounding regions have been engulfed with thick fog layer from last three days. Due to this, the air quality in the Capital city too became severely poor.

Both the fog and the poor air quality had led to increasing in the pollution level considerably making people choke in this weather. The reason for increasing pollution level can be associated with high humidity levels, along with plummeting temperatures and light winds.

As per Skymet Weather, the air pollutants are getting mixed with the moisture incursion winds coming from the Bay of Bengal. This along with the dropping temperatures in Delhi and NCR has led to the formation fog along with a layer of smog leading to pollution.

However, as of now, these moist easterly winds have already changed their direction and are being replaced by dry northwesterly winds. This is expected to curtail down the humidity level prevailing in the national capital and adjoining regions.

Additionally, the wind speed is also expected to pick up the pace gradually leading to decrease in intensity of fog thereby reducing the pollution level.

As per the phenomenon, dust and smoke particle tends to settle down along with water vapor and mist. Due to this combination, the hot air close to earth’s surface remains suspended. As soon as winds will pick up pace, pollution level will also curtail down.

Hence, it can be said that very soon the fog and pollution level will start thinning own and people residing in Delhi and NCR will get to breathe some pollution free air.
