Dense fog in North and East India disrupts air and rail traffic

Fog tightened its grip over North India as the Western Disturbance, which brought rain and snow in North India, moved away.  However, the fog scenario has been relatively better on Saturday morning.

Even Delhiites woke up to a clear weather with good visibility conditions. Only Dwarka and Laxmi Nagar witnessed shallow fog. Visibility at the Palam airport was fairly good at 1000 meters.

Amritsar was better than yesterday as visibility was 250 meters today as compared to 50 meters yesterday. Chandigarh also witnessed visibility reducing to 100 meters. Up in the hills, visibility reduced to 400 meters in Jammu.

Fog in East India

Dense to very dense fog continues to disrupt normal life in East India. Gorakhpur, Agra and Allahabad witnessed nil visibility due to very dense fog in wee hours of morning. Visibility reduced to 50 meters in Lucknow, 300 meters in Varanasi and 500 meters in Patna.

Flight and train delays in India

The schedule of 120 flights across the country has been disrupted across the country. Several trains to and from Patna Junction, Delhi, Lucknow and Varanasi have been running behind schedule.

Though visibility condition remained fairly good, 5 flights from Delhi were cancelled and 6 flights coming to Delhi were delayed. Agra, Allahabad, Chandigarh, Gorakhpur and Guwahati witnessed major flight delays.
