Season’s second fog has enveloped the national capital along with the adjoining regions the second consecutive day as well.

Reduced visibility has led to delays or diversions of several flights at the Indira Gandhi International Airport along with leading to rescheduling of close to 50 trains by the Northern Railways. However, airport authority announced the resuming of air services soon.

The thick fog blanket has curtailed down the visibility levels to below 50 meters at most of the regions and in fact 0 meters at some regions. The thick fog cover over Delhi and NCR even led to collision of 12 vehicles together at the Yamuna Expressway, Noida claiming life of one while 10 extremely injured.

Another incident occurred in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh when a truck collided with an auto rickshaw killing 2 and injuring six people.

As per Skymet Weather, the present foggy weather prevailing over the national capital along with adjoining areas is a result of increased moisture levels. The humid winds have been blowing from the Cyclone Nada in the Bay of Bengal up to the northern plains. This has led to formation of fog over Delhi and NCR.

Other factors that have contributed to the development of fog includes the light wind speed plus the minimum temperatures have been settling on the lower side. However, as per the experts, the situation over these regions is likely to improve marginally tomorrow and significantly after 24 hours as dry northwesterly are expected to gain strength over these regions. Visibility is also expected to become less dense as compared to today's.
