Cold weather conditions along with fog have gripped Northwest India. Several places in the region today morning was in the clutch of dense fog. For instance, the visibility in the national capital Delhi (Palam Observatory) on Thursday morning was poor at 100 meters. The adjoining areas of Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad also observed visibility drop to 200 meters.
In fact, zero visibility was observed in parts of North Rajasthan and adjoining Punjab. The remaining parts of Rajasthan including West Uttar Pradesh and entire Haryana saw visibility of between 100 and 200 meters.
Less than 300 meters of visibility was observed in Amritsar. Moderate to dense fog dropped visibility to less than 200 meters in Patiala and Hisar.
The temperatures too have dropped by 2 to 3 degree Celcius in the region, intensifying cold day conditions during the last 24 hours.
The cold winds from northwest direction will continue to blow over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh. No relief from cold day condition is likely for the next 24 hours.
Just like today, the residents are most likely to wake up to moderate to dense fog tomorrow. The visibility is likely to be zero in many parts of the northwestern plains.
