Though country still awaits winters to come in full swing, fog has not failed to make its appearance on time. True to its characteristics during December, dense to very dense fog engulfed most parts of Indo-Gangetic Plains on Wednesday morning. Moreover, hilly states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand also reported dense fog.

Several parts of North Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar reported nil visibility, disrupting road and railway traffic. Delhi was slightly better and reported visibility of around 400 meters during early morning hours.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, interaction between moist winds with cool northerly winds has led to dense fog over the region.

Meanwhile in Northeast India, Assam reported shallow to moderate fog while, Manipur and Mizoram witnessed moderate fog at few parts.

Weather is likely to open up gradually as the day progresses, making way for sunshine. However, total clearance will not be there on account of light winds blowing over the region.

Let us have a look at the visibility at some of the major cities across the North and East India.
