Moderate to dense fog continues to engulf East India

It seems that fog has refused to relent from parts of East India, which continues to reel under the grip over dense to very dense fog. On Sunday morning, Varanasi reported moderate fog with visibility dropping to 500 meters, followed by Gaya which also had similar conditions with visibility of mere 600 meters.

Gwalior observed foggy mornings with visibility of 800 meters, while Allahabad and Lucknow were slightly better with visibility of 800 & 1000 meters, respectively.

According to Skymet Weather, moist winds have been blowing over the region or the last many days. Moreover, persistent fog cover is not letting the mercury rise much and wind speed is also light. All these weather conditions are conducive for the formation of fog over the region.

Further, similar weather conditions will continue to grip the parts of East India, especially over East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar that would continue with moderate to dense fog.

Meanwhile, northern plains continued to escape the fog. All thanks to the active Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and its induced cyclonic circulation over Punjab and Haryana region.

On Saturday, these systems have also given winter rains over the northern plains over Punjab, Haryana and Delhi as well. But as on Sunday morning, shallow fog peeped over northwestern plains of India including Delhi and NCR.
