After observing fairly good visibility conditions for the last three days,Delhiand NCR once again witnessed very dense fog on Sunday morning that hit rail and air traffic very hard. The visibility at Palam Airport dropped to nil, leading to delay of 28 flights, which includes 26 departing and 2 arrivals in Delhi. Three flights have been cancelled so far.
North and East India bound trains continue to be paralysed. At least, 140 trains are running behind schedule, six have been cancelled and several are rescheduled. Some of the major trains such as New Delhi Dehradun Jan Shatabdi Express has been delayed by 8 hours, New Delhi Howrah Rajdhani Express by 8 hours, New Delhi Sealdah Rajdhani Express by 7 hours and Kalka Mail by 11 hours.

Similarly, very dense fog was also observed overLucknow,Varanasi,Gorakhpur,AgraandAllahabad, with visibility dropping to nil. While,Agartalareported 70 meters,Gaya100 meters,Guwahatialso 100 meters,Patna200 meters,Jammu200 meters andAmritsar500 meters.
Meanwhile, shallow fog was reported inChandigarhandGwaliorat 800 meters.
Reportedly, cold wave and dense fog conditions have claimed seven lives, five in Uttar Pradesh and two in Punjab, in last few days. Poor visibility conditions have adversely affected road traffic, leading to fatal accidents.
