Dense Fog Continues To Affect Most Parts of The Country

Fog In IndiaThick fog continues to affect most parts of the country with some places reporting zero visibility. Persistent dense fog for two days pulled down the day temperature to 13.1°C on Wednesday, lowest of the season. Dense to very dense fog engulfed several cities with low visibility affecting air and rail traffic in these parts. In Delhi itself, visibility dropped to zero with dense fog being reported in Dwarka, Indirapuram, Laxmi Nagar, and Vasundhara. Also, very dense fog was reported in Palam and Faridabad.

The intense blanket of fog stretches from northern Rajasthan to central and western Uttar Pradesh covering Haryana, Delhi NCR, southern parts of Punjab and even north-western areas of Madhya Pradesh. The cities of Amritsar, Varanasi, Allahabad, and Jamnagar reported zero visibility. Visibility in other cities was reported at 100 meters for Rajkot and Gorakhpur, 500 meters for Gwalior, Agra, and Bangalore, 200 meters for Patna and Chandigarh, 400 meters for Gaya, 600 meters for Lucknow, and 900 meters for Kolkata.

Air traffic was also affected due to widespread fog and 11 flights were reported delayed in departure while 8 faced delay in arrivals.

Train delays continued to trouble passengers with 118 trains being delayed across the country. Some of these trains include: Dibrugarh Brahmaputra Mail (delayed by 10 hours), Shaheed Express Amritsar-Jaynagar (delayed by 8 hours), New Delhi-Hyderabad AP Express (delayed by 13 hours), Puri-Purshottam Express New Delhi-Puri (delayed by 10 hours), Jammutawi –Tatanagar Muri Express (delayed by 7 hours), and Chandigarh-Lucknow CGD-LKO Express (delayed by 17 hours).
