Several parts of the country woke up to a foggy morning. Many areas of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and foot hills of Uttar Pradesh witnessed very dense fog.
Places like Amritsar and Lucknow witnessed very dense fog but such weather conditions remain absent from Delhi. While most parts of Punjab's weather remained clear, Amritsar’s visibility dropped to 0 meters. In fact, the city has witnessed nil visibility for the third consecutive day.
Similar foggy conditions were witnessed by the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow where the visibility dropped to a mere 50 meters. Varanasi on the other hand witnessed clear weather and reported no trace of fog.
The scattered blowing of northwesterly winds from East to Northwest direction is not helping the fog to clear up quickly.
As of now such weather conditions will continue to persist over the region for 2 more days at least. Thereafter, due to the approach of Western Disturbance, more areas of northern plains and Punjab may come under dense fog.
For now, temperatures are expected to increase East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and the persisting cold day conditions will abate.
