Heat wave in Delhi, which had remained absent for some time has been back with a bang with temperatures seeing a massive rise during the last couple of days. Maximum temperatures have surpassed the 45 degree mark.
Safdrajung Observatory recorded a whopping 45.6 degrees Celsius yesterday, which is 5 degrees above normal levels. This is also the highest maximum for the base observatory. However, it was the other areas of Delhi NCR which saw a mammoth increase in the maximum temperature yesterday.
Mungeshpur in Delhi NCR recorded 49.2°C as its maximum, which is 9 degrees above the normal levels resulting in severe heatwave conditions. Najafgarh was not far behind with the maximum at 49.1 degrees, (8 degrees above the normal levels. Other parts also saw sky high maximums including Ayanagar 46.8 degrees, Lodi Road 45.8 degrees, Palam 46.4 degrees, Ridge 47.2 degrees Celsius and Pitampura 47.3 degrees Celsius.
Now, relief is in sight for Delhi and the NCR region as some clouding may be seen in association with a Western Disturbance over the hills. The national capital may see some squally winds, dust storm and thunderstorm today and tomorrow, which may result in the drop in temperatures. Thereafter, maximums will once again see a rise.
