Skymet's forecast of rain in Delhi again came true when people woke up to a chilly and rainy morning today. Between 6 am to 7 am Palam station reported thunderstorm, whereas Noida and Faridabad witnessed thundershowers till 7 am.
According to the latest weather update by Skymet’s Meteorological Division in India, the day is now expected to become dry and sunny with a considerable rise in the maximums.
“Rain did occur in the morning but the weather in Delhi will turn dry from today onwards. Though we had predicted more rain in Delhi for today but it did not happen as the weather system (thunder clouds), moved away rapidly. The radar images from today morning showed the system, after giving rain in Delhi, travelling to places like Panipat, Muzaffarnagar, Dehradun in the north and to Agra and Gwalior in the South”, said G.P Sharma, from Skymet’s Meteorological Division.
Some of the places that recorded rain in the last 24 hours in Delhi and its adjoining areas were: Safdurjung – 3.9 mm of rain, Palam - 1.8, Akshardham – 1 mm, Mayur Vihar – 1 mm, Noida – 5 mm, Pusa Road – 1 mm, Gurgaon – 6 mm, Hisar – 6 mm, Meerut – 5.4 mm, Muradabad – 1 mm, Chandigarh – 13 mm, Panchkula - 8 mm, Panipat – 1 mm, Mangeshpuri – 4 mm, Faridabad – 14 mm, Jhajjar – 1 mm, Rohtak – 7 mm, and Agra – traces of rainfall.
While Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 100 mm of rain and snow in the last 48 hours, rain in Delhi in the same period has been up to 5 mm.
According to the latest weather update by Skymet’s Meteorological Division in India, chances of rain in Delhi are minimal and the weather in the city will turn dry from today onwards. However, there could be some light isolated showers in the evening today. The maximum temperature in Delhi today is expected to touch 26⁰C, while the maximum yesterday settled 5 degrees below normal at 23⁰C due to rain and clouds.
