Delhi weather has once again started to play hide and seek. While the weather remained hot and sultry during the day, the weather conditions became cloudy during the evening hours at about 5:30 pm and some light thunderstorm and thundershower activity was witnessed thereafter.

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, Delhi witnessed some weather activity during the evening hours. Many areas of Delhi as well as the NCR region including Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad witnessed some passing showers as well.

Strong winds also prevailed along with light rain. In fact, winds gusting up to about 50 kmph were also observed in some areas of Delhi-NCR. Isolated areas of Delhi, particularly North Delhi also reported uprooting of trees.

These pre-Monsoon showers have picked up pace during the month of June and the city has been witnessing some weather activity every now and then. For instance, thundershower activity was witnessed in Delhi on June 11, with the Palam observatory recording 3 mm of rainfall in 24 hours.

This pre-Monsoon activity can be attributed to a trough which is running close to Delhi and the NCR region. The national capital and its counterparts are expected to witness some more weather activity during the next two days as well.

While the weather is likely to clear up now, the evening hours may once again witness light rain and thunderstorm activity. The normal onset date for Southwest Monsoon is June 29, and while Mumbai has missed its onset date, Delhi may see Monsoon rains on time only.

Until then, the residents of Delhi can enjoy some pleasant weather activity which will provide some relief during the evening hours.
