Dense fog continues to abate Delhi-NCR that saw only shallow fog on Tuesday morning. Similar visibility conditions were also witnessed over nearby areas of Punjab and Haryana.
According to Skymet Weather, most areas of the northern plains have been witnessing only shallow to moderate fog for the last couple of days. All thanks to the cold and dry northerly winds blowing at moderate speed.
However, parts of Uttar Pradesh have been under the grip of dense fog. Places such as Lucknow and Bahraich witnessed low visibility conditions with visibility dropping below 500 meters.
In wake of this several trains have been running behind the scheduled time by several hours. For instance, Delhi reported delay of 54 trains on Tuesday morning.
Further, we expect intensity of fog to increase and dense fog may return to parts of Delhi, Punjab and Haryana during the next 24 to 48 hours.
As per weathermen, wind pattern is now gradually changing into easterlies on account of the well-marked low pressure area in Bay of Bengal gaining further strength. This will infuse the moisture over the region and speed will also go down.
Moreover, with minimum temperatures settling on the lower side, weather conditions will be conducive for the formation of fog over the northern plains once again.
