Delhi was witnessing dry weather conditions for quite some time. Humid weather conditions were making life difficult for residents. In fact, people were craving for a few spells of good showers to get some relief from the prevailing weather conditions.
Rain gods finally decided to bestow some kindness over the national capital on the day of Janmashtami. During the afternoon hours, several areas in the city along with the NCR region received good Monsoon rains.
These rains can be attributed to multiple reasons. While the Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayas has been affecting the weather over the plains, multiple weather systems around the region have been increasing the moisture incursion.
Now these weather systems are expected to weaken which is why the axis of the Monsoon trough will move closer to Delhi further increasing the rainfall activity over the region. Thus, light Monsoon rains are expected over the national capital for another 24 to 48 hours.
This means that Delhi and the NCR region are expected to witness a wet weekend. In fact, the intensity of these Monsoon showers is expected to further increase around August 28 and a few good spells of Monsoon rains may also occur over the national capital which may continue until the end of the month.
