Delhi witnesses hottest day of April, rain brings relief

On Saturday, Delhi recorded maximum temperature of 36.2°C, making it the hottest day of April, so far. However, Delhiites got relief from the soaring temperatures during evening as rain made a comeback.

Light to moderate rain was observed in several parts of Delhi-NCR region during late evening on account of a trough prevailing over Chhattisgarh extending up to Kerala, across Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Let us have a look at rainfall figures across national capital in a span of last 24 hours till 8:30 am in morning today.

According to the Skymet Meteorology Division in India, we can expect some more short spells of thunder showers by Sunday evening. This will keep maximum temperatures under check for next 48 hours, which will now settle in early 30s.

We can expect a rise in maximum temperatures by April 16 when hot and dry winds from Northwest region will start blowing over the region. Till then, easterly winds will keep the day temperatures down.

Delhi has received 53.3 mm of rain till now in the month of April, surpassing its monthly average rainfall of 8.8 mm.
