“My five year old son and husband wished me Happy Women’s Day on this bright and sunny Saturday morning with bed tea and a beautiful bouquet of red roses.” It’s my neighbour, an elated Mrs. Kappor’s day off from household chores and cooking. She reminded me on my way to work that it’s 8th of March, International Women’s Day!
Finally it’s that time of the year when all the mothers, sisters, wives and girlfriends will receive small little tokens of love to remind them their significance in our society. There’s hardly any need to remind a woman her importance, as she can take on the world with poise and pride. But a day to celebrate and glorify womanhood isn’t a bad idea at all. It’s time to pat on her back for her worthiness.
The weather in Delhi seems all welcoming as well. As predicted earlier by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, Delhi/NCR will remain clear and bright till 10th of March. Cool and strong northwesterly winds sweeping across the northern plains and Delhi have not allowed the day temperatures to rise much. Yesterday, Delhi recorded a maximum of 25.9°C at the Safdarjung Observatory while Palam recorded a maximum of 26.2°C. As the winds have slowed down, maximum in Delhi could rise up to 29°C today.
Minimums will remain in double digits from now onwards and today morning both Palam and Safdarjung Observatory recorded 12.8°C as the minimum.
Latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India suggests that patchy clouds will start building up from tomorrow night as a fresh Western Disturbance will bring rain in Delhi on the 10th night and continue for 24 hours.
Just like every year, Delhi will thank the women of its city in a grand way. Every restaurant, eating joints and clubs will have something special for ‘the lady’ in its menu. So take her out for dinner or just tell how important she is, in your little way!
