After taking a short break, Monsoon rains have returned to Delhi on Saturday morning. According to Skymet Weather, rain bearing clouds were seen engulfing the city since late Friday night only, with lightning as well.

Isolated places have recorded thundershowers on Friday night also.

At present, several parts of the Delhi such as R K Puram, Lajpat Nagar, South Extension, Ashram and Noida are recording moderate rains. Weather conditions are favourable for rains to cover other areas very soon.

These fresh rains have also dropped the maximum temperature that is currently hovering around 27°C. In wake of this, weather has gone extremely pleasant and we expect day maximums to settle around 30°C only.

Let us have a look at the cloud and lightning status over Delhi.

According to Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to the several weather systems prevailing in close proximity of the national capital.

The cyclonic circulation over Kutch region of Gujarat and adjoining south Rajasthan has intensified into a low pressure area. In addition to this, the axis of Monsoon trough which was running south of Delhi is also oscillating towards north.

Also a fresh western disturbance is affecting Jammu and Kashmir. Now the interaction between all these systems has led to rains over the city.

Weathermen predict, rains are likely to intensify further on Sunday as the low pressure area and monsoon trough will move closer to Delhi-NCR. These rains will continue for another 2-3 days. Heavy spells are likely during this time period.
