After remaining dry and hot, Delhi weather decided to wreak havoc over the residents. As reiterated by Skymet Weather, Delhi geared up for a three day rainy spell which began during the evening hours of May 28.

The rain saga continued on May 29 as well, but this time Delhi weather was brutal and unforgiving. The weather activity began to affect Delhi and the NCR region during the late evening hours and continued until now.

These rains can be attributed to the Western Disturbance which has been affecting the Western Himalayas. Also, an induced Cyclonic Circulation over North Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana and Punjab also persists.

While rains have not been widespread, strong winds gusting up to a whopping 90 kmph caused a lot of chaos in the region. In fact, due to bad weather 27 flights to Delhi were diverted to Jaipur. Prime Minister Modi who was scheduled to fly from Karnataka to Delhi, also had to reroute as inclement weather did not allow flights to land at the Indira Gandhi Airport yesterday.

Due to strong winds, more damage was seen over several parts of the city. Many trees were uprooted across the national capital as squally winds haunted Delhi like never before. Due to strong winds and rain, a wall of the post office in Chandni Chowk also collapsed damaging several cars parked close to the incident.

Delhi weather will continue to remain pleasant for the next 24 hours. In fact, more rains are likely today as well. Strong winds will continue to blow over the city and Delhi will see some more rains. All in all, the day will remain pleasant and cloudy with more rains today as well.
