After witnessing prolonged rainy spell, weather in Delhi will go dry once again. Delhiites will have to once again gear up for braving soaring mercury accompanied with hot winds.
Maximum and minimum temperatures that have been settling well below normal, will now start crawling back to normal.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, maximum temperatures will rise once again in absence of any weather activity. However it will be a gradual increase for next three days, thereafter expected to cross 40°C.
The recent rain and thunderstorm activities have kept temperatures under check. On Wednesday, Delhi recorded day temperature at 34.1°C, six degrees below normal and night temperature at 23.7°C, four degrees below normal.
The normal average maximum temperature for the city is 39°C, while average minimum temperature is 27.9°C. It is quite often during June that we see day temperatures settling in mid 40s, resulting in heat wave conditions.
June is considered to be the pre-monsoon month for Delhi, with the average rainfall of 77.4 mm. Due to this humidity levels also increase. In span of last three days, Palam Observatory had recorded 12 mm of rain.
As per Skymet, we can expect more number of rainy days and more dust storm and thunderstorms in June. However variability remains quite high, as on one hand Delhi has recorded single-digit rainfall, while sometimes it has also recorded three-digit rainfall.
