Delhi woke up to a wet morning today. Many parts of Delhi and NCR including Noida and West Delhi have received good rains and thundershowers in the last few hours. Isolated hailstorm activities have also been reported in Rohini. Now, we expect on and off rain and thundershower activities to continue over Delhi and NCR until tonight.
A fresh Western Disturbance has approached Jammu and Kashmir. It has induced a Cyclonic Circulation which is prevailing over Punjab and its adjoining areas. A Trough is also extending up to Uttar Pradesh across Delhi and NCR.
The rainfall activity is likely to continue all through the day today. One or two places in Delhi and NCR might even receive intense spells. However, by tomorrow the weather activity will subside. Yet, light rains might still be witnessed at one or two places. Thereafter, the weather will start clearing up and will become partly cloudy by tomorrow afternoon. Following this, the sky will become clear and bright sunshine will ensue.
The minimum temperature in Delhi has already increased by around 3 degrees due to the overnight cloud cover and the Green House effect.
The day temperature in Delhi is set to subside today under the influence of the prevailing cloud cover. Moreover, one or two pockets in Delhi and NCR area may experience Cold Day conditions as the maximum temperature is expected to remain around 16 degrees Celsius or less in some parts.
After this spell, Delhi-NCR is not going to witness any rain for at least the next four to five days.
The minimum temperature in the region is expected to drop marginally by January 18 as Northwesterly winds will once again start blowing in the Delhi and NCR area.
