Delhi wakes up to a rainy morning, a pleasant day ahead

After a rather rainy day yesterday it’s been raining in Delhi today morning as well.

As had been predicted earlier by Skymet the Sunday morning started with the thud of rains for many in NCR. At present, temperatures are being recorded close to 26°C and the weather is consistently pleasant.

Commuters had it the hard way, with rains making it difficult for them to drive through low visibility and slippery roads.

After a short break in the afternoon, yesterday Delhiites saw very fine particles of rains in the evening hours until late at night.

As was tweeted by one of our users-

These fine particles of rains were nothing but drizzling in its minute form which is a result of low clouds. Due to the interaction of two systems over Delhi and NCR multilayered clouds were prevailing yesterday which are likely to prevail today as well. Thus, more such rains are likely.

The city of Delhi has already recorded light rains on Friday as well.

These rains will now be continuing during the next 2 to 3 hours. Later, the precipitation will recede. Though due to the prevailing moisture content in the air, sky conditions will remain overcast with multi-layered clouds which will reduce gradually as the day further progresses.

During the last 24 hours, temperatures were consistent between 26 to 27 degrees due to the continuation of rains. However, today the temperatures will increase and settle around 28 to 29 degrees yet remaining pleasant.

These rains can be attributed to multiple Monsoon systems, surrounding the capital region. At present, a Western Disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir, which would be traveling across the state. Secondly, a Low-Pressure Area is over Haryana and adjoining region.

Going by the data, yesterday Palam Observatory recorded 11 mm of rains while that at Safdarjung recorded 46 mm. Delhi is still running 26% rain deficient than the normal rain figures for the season.
