Many areas of Northwest India witnessed rains during mid-February around 12 and 13. However, these rains escaped Delhi and NCR and were just able to give the city a cloudy sky, now the wait for Delhi rains seems to end soon.

Delhiites may brace for a rainy weekend as some rains are anticipated to show up in the city and its adjoining Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad during February 24. These rains would be the first rainy spell for the city in the month of February as the city has not seen any rains so far this month.

This has even led the temperatures of the city to rise. In fact, Delhi recorded the season’s highest maximum at 29.3°C yesterday.

As per Skymet Weather, a Western Disturbance is moving across Jammu and Kashmir. A cyclonic circulation can also be marked over the extreme North of Rajasthan.

Due to this weather system, thundercloud development is possible over extreme North Rajasthan and Punjab which is likely to get dragged towards Delhi and NCR as well. This would lead to the occurrences of the short spell, thunderstorm or thundercloud development towards the late evening hours today at the isolated place over Delhi and NCR.

Thereafter, the partly cloudy sky is likely to prevail until the next spell of rain shows up which is likely around February 24. This weather system would be more active than the previous Western Disturbances and hence it would result in rain and thundershowers over most parts of Northwest India including Delhi and NCR.
