Delhi weather 1

Rains have remained far and few over the capital of the country, Delhi from last many days. In fact, it has been 4-5 days since good rains have occurred in Delhi and NCR. Though as per the prediction of light spells by Skymet Weather, Delhi and the adjoining regions such as Noida, Faridabad, Gurugram and Ghaziabad witnessed some light rains on the eve of Independence Day.

However, both the Safdarjung and Palam Observatory failed to record any rains in the last 24 hours as the rains were very light and patchy in nature. It is also anticipated that similar weather condition will continue to prevail in Delhi and the nearby regions.

Skymet Weather reiterates that the axis of Monsoon trough is running along the foothills of the Himalayas which is north of Delhi. Moreover, southwesterly and westerly winds are also blowing over the regions. In the wake of both these weather systems, good Delhi rains refrained themselves from showing up, however, light spells due to localized cloud development occurred.

Such patchy spells occurred in the last 24 hours as well. These rains mainly were mainly confined to smaller areas and occurred in regions such as ITO, Red Fort, areas adjoining to New Delhi.

Delhi and NCR remained dry and are expected to continue witnessing dry weather for at least another 3-4 days though chances of light rain still persists. Henceforth, the axis of Monsoon trough is expected to shift towards south around August 19 that may result in some light rainy spells. Due to these rains, the maximums that are mounting close to 35°C are likely to plunge.

However, Delhi will celebrate its 70th Independence Day under bright sunshine and clear sky.
