April is here but it just doesn't seem to stop raining and snowing in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India J&K will see more rain and snow in the coming days. Delhi will also witness rain and thunderstorms.

After widespread rain and snow in the hills in the last 24 hours, another Western Disturbance will continue to make the weather rainy in J&K for the next couple of days. This weather system will start affecting the state from tomorrow onwards.

Rain in Delhi  could be witnessed on 7th April, due to the WD and a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan. Rain in Punjab and Haryana could also occur during the same time however, clouding will reach these parts tomorrow.

Meanwhile, isolated parts of Odisha, West Bengal and adjoining Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand could continue to receive light thundershowers in the next 24 to 48 hours. The weather has largely been dry in the region, except for some rain in Bhuvaneshwar and Kolkata in the last 48 hours. Number of small circulations, feeble troughs and high temperatures (between 36⁰C to 40⁰C) will be responsible for rain in these parts.

Pre-monsoon showers have been continuously occurring in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in Northeast India. Southwesterly winds could aid in giving more rain tomorrow. Rain will pull down the maximums to around 30⁰C in the region. In the last 24 hours Imphal and Kohima observed 0.1 mm and 0.8 mm of rainfall respectively.

The weather in South India had been dry since the 23rd of March but the beginning of April brought good news in terms of rain in Kerala and south interior Karnataka. Thiruvananthapuram recorded light rainfall on the first two days of the month and clouding brought some relief from the heat as maximums dropped by a notch or two.

“Weather in Kerala and south interior Karnataka will continue to be partly cloudy to cloudy as the southern Bay of Bengal will be more active. Also, a system which may emerge in southeast Arabian Sea, around Lakshadweep, in the first half of the next week could add to more rain in the region”, says G.P Sharma, of Skymet Meteorology Division.

Other than Thiruvananthapuram, cities that recorded rain in South India in the last two days were Kozhikode, Raichur, Hassan, Chirtadurga and Kochi.
