Delhi to get relief from cold wave conditions

January 14, 2017 7:44 AM |

Delhi WintersDelhi-NCR has been reeling under the cold wave conditions for the last couple of days, with mercury plunging to new levels. Minimum temperatures dropped to 3.4 on Thursday, while it settled at 4 degrees on Wednesday.

People were seen shivering during the bitter cold nights and roads wore a deserted look. Besides this, schools across the national capital have been shut for primary classes for the next few days.

On Saturday morning, the city recorded minimum temperatures at 3.2 degrees, which was four degrees below normal. However, we can now expect some relief from the chilly weather as night temperatures are all set to rise.

Further, these temperatures will now increase gradually during the next 48 hours leading to abatement of cold wave conditions.

This change in the weather conditions can be attributed to the fresh Western Disturbance which is approaching Jammu and Kashmir. It is likely to affect the region January 14 onwards, which will change the wind pattern to warm and humid southeasterlies.

With this levels of humidity will increase that will in turn increase the minimum temperatures across the northern plains including Delhi-NCR.

Weather will be partly cloudy on Sunday and Monday and city also stands a chance of witnessing very light rain over few places.
