Delhiites have already started packing up their woolens on account of exceptionally warm weather that the national capital is observing. In fact, Delhi witnessed the hottest February 19 in last five years.

As per the weatherman, in last 24 hours, Delhi’s day temperature rose to settle at 30.8°C which was 6 degrees above normal while the night temperature also rose 5 notches above than the normal and settled at 15.6°C. The day before as well, the capital of the country witnessed mercury soaring to 30.1°C.

As per Skymet Weather, the reason for the exceptional upscaling of the mercury levels in Delhi and NCR could be attributed to the successive Western Disturbances that were affecting the Western Himalayan region.

This led to the flow of warm and humid southwesterly winds to prevail over most parts of northwestern plain including Delhi-NCR thereby leading to the rise of both maximum and minimums by 5 to 6 degrees.

As of now, the weather system is likely to shift eastwards, thereby leading to change in wind pattern and once again, the dry and cool northwesterly which were obstructed will start blowing once again. Hence, both the day and night temperatures are likely to witness a drop in mercury by 3-4 degrees.

Thus, the unusually warm weather will be replaced by comfortable weather. The minimums which are in lower teens will rise by 2-3 degrees. Similar weather is expected to remain until the weekend, however, thereafter, temperatures will rise once again.
