Delhi might have got some relief from heatwave conditions but the city will continue to reel under uncomfortable and blazing hot weather.
After the day maximums, night temperatures are also settling way too above normal by 5-8 degrees for the last few days. Usually, first half of the month is cooler than the second half of April in Delhi.
On Monday, Safdarjung Observatory recorded maximum temperature at 40.1°C and minimum temperature 28.5°C, both were above normal by 3 and 7 degrees, respectively.
Similarly, Palam Observatory witnessed day temperature of 41.9°C, four degrees above normal and night temperature at 27.8°C, six degrees above normal.
The monthly average maximum temperature for April stands at 36.3°C and average minimum temperature is at 21.3°C.
According to Skymet Weather, the passage of Western Disturbance is responsible for the change in weather conditions. On one hand, it has reduced the day temperatures marginally over Delhi. While on other hand, humid winds have led to increase in minimum temperatures leading to hot day conditions.
Hot day conditions are experienced when the day temperatures surpasses 40°C and night temperatures are five degrees above normal.
Skymet Weather predicts that no major change is likely in the temperature profile. With no rain in offing, Delhiites will continue with the scorching heat.
Similar weather conditions were observed in 2010, wherein almost same minimum temperatures were witnessed.
Both 2010 and 2016 have been witnessing similar weather pattern of high temperatures in April as compared to the years between. From 2011 to 2015, minimum temperatures were settling between 19°C and 21°C.
