Delhi to continue seeing see saw of temperatures, showers unlikely

December 20, 2023 1:24 PM |

Minimum temperatures in Delhi have witnessed a drop once again wherein the Safdarjung observatory recorded 6.2 degrees as its minimum today. Other parts of the national capital had minimums that were even less than this at 5.9 degrees Celsius or so.

As far as low minimums are concerned, Delhi had gone to 4.9 degrees on Dec 15. Thereafter, a gradual rise was seen daily with yesterday seeing the minimum of 7.8 degrees 3 degrees higher than the lowest minimum this season.

As expected, the passage of Western Disturbance has resulted in the reduction of temperatures. Delhi has been seeing a see saw of minimums in the past few days due to the frequent passage of these disturbances.

Now also, Delhi will see a see saw of temperatures on account of more Western Disturbances. We expect a fresh Western Disturbance to arrive on the 22nd affecting the hills until the 23rd. Thus, we can see an increase in temperature during that time. Thereafter, a drop in temperatures may be seen.

For the next couple of days, we can see the minimums to reduce and settle in the lesser than normal range, and might go to 5-6 degrees. Easterly winds will increase humidity as well. There is likely to be a thin layer of high clouds.

Parts of Northern Plains may see rains but none for Delhi. Clouding may be there but there is a very outside chance of any sprinkles over the national capital.
