2019 has turned out to be quite well weatherwise for the country. After the above-normal rains during the Southwest Monsoon, pollution levels have also been under check this season. In fact, to much relief, Delhi is witnessing the cleanest air in the last nine years.

However, there are just a few days left of clean air, with air pollution all set to make a comeback.

According to weathermen at Skymet Weather, rains have finally bid adieu to Delhi and adjoining areas of Noida, Gurugram and Faridabad. Winds have also changed and replaced with dry northwesterly winds. But since these winds would be of moderate speed, these would not let pollutants settle in the atmosphere.

It is that time of the year when stubble burning leads to a significant rise in air pollution over Delhi-NCR. By this time of the year, winds start blowing from northwest direction over northern plains, which bring along the pollutants over Delhi NCR. This has not been the case so far.

Although winds have turned northwesterly, these winds would soon change to easterly-southeasterly after 2-3 days. Those humid winds would persist at least till October 14 and in return, air pollution would stay away from Delhi till then.

However, post that, Delhi pollution will make a comeback in full swing.
