Delhi NCR is likely to have rain and showers on December 11th night and 12th morning. This may break the jinx of the dry spell so far being experienced in and around the national capital. Delhi is marked on the outer peripheral of the main weather system bringing rains over the northern plains of Punjab and Haryana. Therefore the rains will mostly be light and patchy in nature.

Delhi rained last on 16th November measuring 0.6mm at the base observatory Safdarjung. The month of December just makes the beginning of winter rains with a monthly normal of 9.4mm. January and February being the rainiest winter months with an average of 19.3mm and 22.1mm rainfall respectively. Rainy spell of mid-December sets the pace for thick wintery conditions over Delhi NCR and thereafter mostly the minimum temperatures remain in single digit. December 2019 was the second coldest in about 100 years when the mean monthly maximum temperature had dipped to 19°C against the normal of 23°C. These are likely to record above normal on 10th and 11th December and gradually dip thereafter to hover around the normal of 24°C. The minimum temperatures for Delhi NCR are also likely to register above normal on 11th and 12th December and possibly drop to single-digit during next week.
