Delhi to battle hot and dry days for 10 days, pleasant nights to bring relief

October 2, 2017 2:23 PM |

Summers in DelhiWith Monsoon 2017 vacating most parts of Northwest India, dry and hot days have once again made a comeback. Mercury has increased significantly across the northwestern plains and day maximums are now settling above the normal range.

Delhi-NCR is no different and has been battling very warm afternoons for last few days. However, some relief is seen during mornings and nights which have been pleasant.

On Sunday, maximum temperature settled at 36.4°C, which was two degrees above the normal average. Meanwhile, night temperature was recorded at 21.9°C that was one degree below the normal.

According to Skymet Weather, with the formation of an anti-cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan, wind pattern has now changed to northwesterlies. These winds are warm and dry in nature, paving way for clear sky and bright sunshine. With this, day maximums have increased substantially over Northwest India including Delhi-NCR.

However, there has been drastic drop in levels of humidity. In wake of this, night temperatures are now dipping. As per weathermen, whenever sky is clear, earth surface releases the heat in the form long wave radiation, leading to cooling down of earth surface rapidly.

Further, we expect similar weather conditions to prevail and thus, no relief is likely from the hot afternoons for at least next one week. Thereafter, we might see some light rainfall but that spell would not be significant one.
