Delhi Switch Over To Warm Days And Pleasant Nights

Delhi has started transiting from summer to the autumn season. Autumn is characterized by shorter days and slightly cooler temperatures, to start with, in the night and trickle over later, in the day. Typically, autumn in the northern hemisphere is considered from the September equinox to the December solstice. For Delhi, in October, the day temperature drops from 34°C to 30°C and the minimum temperature lowers from 23°C to 18°C. After the withdrawal of monsoon, the city experiences the least rainfall.

After the retreat of the monsoon, a bright sun and clear sky lead to a rise in day temperatures. The capital has recorded day mercury at 35°C and above for the last one week. It is likely to continue for another one week and the day temperature will hover between 35°C and 36°C and drop, thereafter. The morning temperatures have already seen a dip. The minimum temperature today was 23.2°C at Safdarjung, a drop of 3°C from the day before. Courtesy, early snowfall in the higher areas of Kashmir, temperatures have dipped across the plains of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi area.

A western disturbance as an upper air system is approaching Jammu & Kashmir, tomorrow.  Mid and higher reaches of northern mountains will have scattered weather activity. After likely clearance on the 11th of October and continuing till mid-week next, the morning temperature is likely to drop by 2°-3°C.  The flavour of decent morning chill will kick start in the subsequent days and more so from the 21st of October. Pleasant days are ahead for Delhi and its suburbs.
