Delhi hot days, rain in Delhi

Weather in Delhi NCR has been comfortable in March till March 19, on account of on and off rain and thundershowers making appearance over northwestern plains. However, last 48 hours have registered sudden rise in the day temperature.

Tuesday saw mercury settling at 30°C for the first time of March this year. This increased substantially on Wednesday and reached to 34.4°C, which was three notches above the mean.

Reiterating the fact that March 2019 has been the coldest in the last five years. Maximum temperatures across national capital region has remained below normal for entire February and in March till now. Since last 3 years, mercury was already over 30°C in the third week of February itself.

Three times in last one decade i.e. 2009, 2013 and 2014 had also not seen maximum temperature reaching 35°C during March.

Now, we expect strong northwesterly winds to commence over Delhi and adjoining areas of Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. Due to this, temperatures might drop slightly but day maximums would not go below 30°C.

Hence, we can now announce the arrival of Summer season. By the end of March, day temperatures would reach 36°C and by second of week of April it would even tough 40-degree mark.
