It seems like the weather gods aren’t too happy with the wrong doings of humans. With some record breaking temperature, severe heatwave has engulfed several parts of the country.

On Saturday, Delhi’s Palam Observatory recorded maximum temperature of 44°C. This was six degrees above the normal average temperature of 37.1°C.

This is also the second highest day maximum witnessed in span of 10 years.

However Skymet Weather predicts some relief on the cards as a fresh Western Disturbance is expected to bring duststorm. This is likely to cool down the temperature but that is not likely to happen any time before Sunday night or Monday morning.

So Delhi-ites need to buck up for a very hot Sunday.

Meanwhile, temperature in Bankura in West Bengal recorded day maximum at 46°C which is the highest maximum temperature ever on record.

Prior to this, Bankura had recorded highest maximum of 45.2°C on April 15, 1973.

Delhi has recorded season’s highest day temperature on Friday, with mercury reaching at 40.1°C. It is for the first time that Safdarjung Observatory has surpassed 40-degree mark this season.

The temperature is four degrees above the average normal temperature of 36.3°C.This has resulted in heatwave like conditions over the national capital.

Skymet Weather predicts that no relief is likely from high day temperatures. Moreover, day temperature will continue to rise during next 24 hours as well.

However, Palam Observatory has been recording day temperature above 40°C for last consecutive 2-3 days. On Friday also, Palam has recorded 42.2°C.

According to Skymet Weather, hot and dry northwesterly winds have been blowing over the region which has led to rise in mercury. No major change are likely in weather conditions and thus people of the city will reel under scorching heat.

Meanwhile, Delhi could see isolated rain and thundershowers on late Sunday evening but it will not bring much respite as mercury will start rising again by Monday noon.

Meanwhile, Bangalore and Kolkata have been witnessing blazing hot weather conditions where mercury has been on rising trend.
