The national capital, Delhi, has gone on record of measuring the highest temperature of the last 15 years in February. Base observatory of Delhi, Safdarjung, the representative for the capital registered a maximum temperature of 32.5°C, the highest since 2006. The meteorological office at Lodhi Road recorded 32.7°C, Narela 32.8°C and Nazafgarh breached the mark of 33°C to stay ahead with 33.3°C. This mercury level in Delhi is about 7°C above the normal and has dragged the minimum temperature also to remain above the average across NCR.
Day temperature for Delhi has risen for the 6th consecutive day from 26.8°C on 19th February to 32.5°C yesterday. Prior to this, the maximum temperature in Delhi surpassed 34°C marks to clock 34.1°C on 26th February 2006. This happens to be an all-time record for the month of February. Since 2006, the maximum temperature did not touch 30°C on 7 occasions and reached 32°C or more in 2017 and 2018.
Unrelenting warm temperature for Delhi will continue during the remaining days of the month. Mercury may touch 33°C today at the record observatory Safdarjung and looks quite probable to equal earlier highest record in the leftover days of the month.
