After reeling under extremely hot weather during last few days, Delhi has got some marginal relief from the soaring mercury. Windy days along with a marginal drop in temperature have been witnessed, however, they will be short-lived.
Day temperature continued to settle below 40°C on Thursday for the second consecutive day. Prior to that, Delhi had been recording above 40°C successively for five days. Meanwhile, Delhi's minimum temperature has also witnessed a decent drop. For last few days, even night temperatures have been settling in high 20s.
Both the temperatures are still above the normal average by two degrees in comparison to 5-6 degrees earlier.
According to Skymet Weather, drop in temperatures can be attributed to the strong northwesterly winds blowing over the region. A fresh Western Disturbance is affecting North India that has affected the wind pattern. These strong winds will continue over the city for at least next two days, which will be responsible for bringing a dip in temperature.
Moreover, the Delhi could also see some isolated thunderstorms on Friday on account of the passage of the system. However, rain is not a possibility.
Skymet Weather predicts this drop in temperatures will last for only next 2-3 days, increasing thereafter. Intense heat will make a comeback over the national capital subsequently.
April 2016 has turned out to be the hottest April in last five years, with extremely high day temperatures. On April 16, Palam Observatory recorded season’s as well as last five years’ highest day maximum at 44°C. Similarly, Safdarjung Observatory also peaked on Saturday 42°C.
