Two days of rain has not just brought relief from the rising pollution levels in Delhi but has also paved the way for the incoming Winters. With day temperature sliding as low as 22°C (which is four degrees below the normal) on Thursday, Delhiites got a taste of the upcoming Winter season. This is the lowest day temperature, Delhi has seen in the last nine years in the month of November. The previous lowest maximum temperature was recorded in 2010 on November 25.
The reason behind this Winer chill is quite clear- cloudy sky prevailing over the city, along with rains and hailstorms in the surrounding regions and gusty winds (35 km/hour). All these factors have together brought down the maximum temperatures.
However, the minimum temperature has shown quite a different pattern this month. Delhi recorded its lowest temperature this season at 11.4 degrees Celsius on November 20 which is unusual. Historical data shows that the night temperature in Delhi generally tends to go below 10 degrees Celsius in November. For instance, the minimum temperature on November 24, 2017, had settled at 7.6 degrees Celsius according to the data available with Skymet.
Meanwhile, we do not expect rain in Delhi-NCR today. A partly cloudy sky will prevail over most parts throughout the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures would hover around 24 and 15 degrees Celsius, respectively.
