As the month is inching closer towards its end, temperatures in Delhi are also witnessing a scaling trend. The maximums are settling very close to the 40-degree mark making the afternoons in the national capital uneasy and uncomfortable.

In fact, Delhi has booked a new record on its name by recording the highest maximums recorded in the last 24 hours in the month of March since 2010. Both the observatories in Delhi have recorded the second highest day temperatures in the last 10 years.

Delhi’s Safdarjung Observatory had witnessed the maximums settling at 39.2°C in the year 2010 while on Tuesday, it has observed the day temperatures settling at 38°C which is pretty close to the all-time high in the last seven years.

Similarly, the Palam Observatory in Delhi had witnessed the day temperatures at 39°C which are the second highest when compared with the maximum of 41.3°C in 2010.

Moreover, the average maximum temperature of the city in the month of March for Safdarjung and Palam Observatory are 29.6°C and 29.9°C respectively. Thus, both the observatories of the capital of the country had witnessed the maximums settling 6 to 7 degrees above the normal.

As per Skymet Weather, the reason for the ongoing hot weather and rising temperatures in Delhi can be associated with the inflow of Westerly and southwesterly winds from Central Rajasthan and Pakistan wherein, temperatures are already settling in mid-40's. Due to this, even the night temperatures are also settling way above normal.

In the last 24 hours, both the observatory had witnessed minimums also settling 5 degrees above the normal. Skymet Weather further does not foresee any changes in the mounting temperatures for next few days.
