India’s killer heatwave is tightening its grip around Telangana and several parts of North India due to which death toll is relentlessly rising this summer. More than 300 people in Telangana have lost their lives owing to the deadly hot weather while other 300 hundred have lost their lives in the national capital city of India, Delhi, during a span of last two months.
The deaths have been reportedly caused by sun stroke and other heat-related illnesses. The mercury has been soaring beyond 45°C in several parts of North India during last few days. According to Skymetweather, the temperatures in areas of Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are settling 5-6 degrees above normal and no relief is likely.
“Temperatures are expected to gradually rise in next 3-4 days. The dry and hot westerly winds that are blowing from Pakistan, where maximum temperature has already reached upto 49°C, across Rajasthan are blowing over rest of North India due to which the region is likely to suffer from severe to very severe heatwave,” explained chief meteorologist Mahesh Palawat, Skymetweather. Temperatures in cities like Allahabad, Barmer, Delhi and Ahmedabad are likely to hover between 45°C-47°C during next couple of days.
