Delhihas been reeling underheat wave conditionsfrom the past few days and people of the capital are facing the brunt of this sultry weather. For that matter, the Delhi government on Sunday extended summer vacation for students till Class 8. The schools will reopen from July 8 for these students, while higher classes will resume from Monday as decided earlier.
Manish Sisodia, who is also the education minister of Delhi, clarified that the order is applicable for both government and private schools.
As on July 1, 2019, Delhi’s Safdarjung Observatory recorded 42.2°C while Palam recorded 44.8°C which is seven degrees above normal which mounted to heat wave conditions.
The record says that in June 2010, 3.9 mm of rainfall was recorded and this year in June 2019, Safdarjung Observatory recorded just 11.6 mm of rains which is the second lowest in a decade for June.
The normal onset date of Monsoon to hit Delhi is around June 29 and with a delayed one, temperatures are soaring like anything. In July, due to delayed arrival of Monsoon, touching or exceeding the mark of 40 degrees seems to be a possibility. However, tomorrow onward, on account of change in the air, the temperature might fall by a couple of degrees.
Anincrease in humidity, change in wind direction to easterlies, cloudy sky are the factors that will be responsible for lowering the mercury. It is anticipated that tomorrow onward there will be a gradual decline in temperature.
Invariably Monsoon arrival is preceded by pre-Monsoon activities and the Delhiites can get to seelight rains between July 3 to July 5. These rains will be mild and soft in nature with no persistent rains to be seen. Normally, the Monsoon ushers with good showers, however for these days such a possibility seems to be ruled out.
