Delhi records lowest rains in August in 22 years

August 31, 2022 7:41 PM |

Delhi in the month of August 2022 has recorded 42.2 mm of rains, making it the lowest since the year 2010. The monthly average for the month is at 226.8 mm. This is the first time that the city did not see double digit rains on any day, and the monthly rains remained in the double digit mark.

Reason being, last few days, no fresh weather system had formed, and the Monsoon trough shifted close to the foothills remaining there itself as of now. Only spot activities have been seen in parts, and no signs of revival of Monsoon trough is expected in the coming 4-5 days. Temperatures will hover around 35 degrees Celsius with humid conditions expected.

Monsoon Trough will shift around September 5 or 6, and that is when some rains may be seen. Thus, September will also begin on a dry note itself.
