A total of 30 days out 31 days witnessed maximum temperatures above normal and minimum temperatures were also seen above normal for 26 days in the month of March.
Normally, rainfall for the March is around 16 mm but this year Delhi remained almost dry. Even though traces of rains on an occasion, but they did not make much impact on the ongoing hot weather conditions.
Therefore, we can say that pre-monsoon activities failed to appear during the month of March this year. An anti-cyclone was seen persisting over Rajasthan which was the main reason for dry and warm weather over Delhi.
Now, the temperatures are also expected to remain above normal for the months of April and May as well.
Yesterday, Delhi’s Palam observatory recorded its maximum temperature at 36.2ºC while Safdarjung Observatory observed 35.4ºC.
However, isolated light rain and thundershowers are expected to occur in the Delhi region around April 6 and April 7, but till then, temperatures are expected to rise by 1°C to 2°C and settle in the high 30s.
